Many thanks to Inhabitat.com and Gardeningclan.com for sharing.

Joe Bradford developed the Pod herb garden while he was a student at the Wentworth Institute of Technology. It’s designed to offer an easy way for urban residents to grow herbs and other plants at home. The pod’s low-profile spherical shape easily fits on any kitchen counter, giving you immediate access to herbs while you cook.

Once a set of seeds has matured and outgrown the micro garden, it couldn’t be easily to transplant them – simply drop the oxo-biodegradable plastic shell into a hole in the earth and the plants it contains will flourish. The Pod even acts as its own packaging – it is designed to be sold complete with compressed dirt and seeds!
